Greenworks 24V Cordless Impact Wrench

Greenworks has made a name for itself in the power tool sector over the past couple of years, and it now has a legitimate lineup for homeowners and DIYers. Adding to its growing list of tool offerings, the brand has added a 1/2-inch impact wrench to its 24V platform. We’re looking at the Greenworks 24V 1/2-inch Cordless Impact Wrench to see what it brings to the table.

The Greenworks IWD401 impact wrench features a brushless motor that gives it up to 300 ft-lbs of torque. It reaches speeds up to 2800 RPM and a 3-speed electronic power selection lets you choose the right speed for the job. Greenworks also tells us the IWD401 obtains impact rates of up to 4000 IPM.

This tool brings a performance upgrade compared to Greenworks’ compact 3/4-inch 3808102 impact wrench, which offers up to 150 ft-lbs of torque and 2400 RPM. While both tools feature brushless motors, the IWD401 raises the bar in both speed and torque, albeit with a heftier design than the 3/4-inch model.

Despite being larger than Greenworks’ aforementioned 3808102 3/4-inch impact wrench, the IWD401 still keeps a lightweight and compact design. It weighs in at just 2.86 pounds bare and adding the 4.0Ah battery included with the kit brings the weight to around 4.7 pounds.

It features a 1/2-inch drive size with a friction ring anvil. Additionally, this tool includes an LED work light that increases visibility in low-light areas. A cushioned overmold grip also keeps your hands comfortable and reduces fatigue while you work.

This tool retails for $89.99 for the bare tool. There are several kit configurations, including a 2.0Ah battery and charger for $129 and a 4.0Ah battery and charger for $149. Greenworks backs your purchase with a 3-year warranty for both the tool and the battery.
